Hey
Mrs. O'Poodles,
I hope all is well in Oregon. Allie
is enjoying Chattanooga and went to the beauty parlor today so I thought
I would send a picture of her so you could see how she is doing. She has
learned to ring the bell on the door to go outside and has also learned
to sit and shake after she goes outside to get her treat.
She has received numerous compliments
from friends, family, the vet, and her new groomer as to how beautiful
she is.
She told me to tell you to say hi
to Dawson and Alona for her and that she is very happy. She no longer has
to stay in her crate and only goes to the bathroom outside when I come
home from lunch and again at the end of the day. She weighed 32.8lbs at
the vet today when we went to pick up her heart worm medicine. How much
bigger do you think she will get? ......
Hi
Everyone,
Here is my new dog, this is her
3rd day at home. She has already
figured out how to open the gate
and my interior doors that have
handles rather than knobs. Oh my,
I'll have to go off to a child's
store to get some kiddie proofing
stuff. She has just finished having
raised her 4th litter of pups in
3 years. She came to my home to rest
and get away from motherhood for
awhile. She is pretty cautious right
now, but each day gets better and
better and I am confident that we are
going to be the best of buddies.
Betsy's coat feels just like fuzzy
down, I love to touch her, she is
so very soft.
I got her checked out at the Vet
yesterday and she is OK with just a
couple of small correctable problems.
I really like the vet, he seems
very tuned in to what she needs,
lots of bonding time with me, her new
pack. We have spent much time together,
walking and just getting to
know one another. I left her for
an hour today and am building up a
little each day until I will be
able to leave her a day or two a week
when I need to be out and about
for several hours. She rides in the car
beautifully. She hops into the back
seat and lies down and stays down
until the car stops.
Her temperament is so different
from prior dogs I have had.. she is
very sweet and isn't pushy at all.
She waits for me to go through the
door first so I don't even have
to be the alpha and insist on going
first. I think she will become more
playful
as we get to know one
another better. She is great with
other dogs and doesn't seem to be
alarmed by anything. I have walked
by big trucks, noisy traffic and
sudden things happen, she is alert
and some times a little frightened
but calms down immediately when
I indicate that it is OK.
It looks like she will have several
very interested "aunties" in the
neighborhood. Shirley, Iris and
a new friend Mary Lou are already
spoiling her....
I'll try to get a better picture
later. It's hard to get a shot of a
black dog....

Here is Bailey...a
very special miniature crystal white son of Whisper and Sweet
Pea. He was shipped to Upper Manhattan in New York City to be a very
special poodle to a very special lady, Carolyn. She fell in love with him
immediately. It was a "Love at First Sight" thing! Rumor has it that
Bailey is going to try his hand (or should I say his feet) at agility when
he is older. Many tears were shed by all in O'Shannonville, when we said
"good-bye" to Bailey. "Be loved and love back" we all echoed as he rode
out of sight.
UPDATE....We have received
a letter from Bailey! You can read it here...
Hi Mom,
Just a short note
to let you know that I celebrated my first birthday with style. I had a
cake from the Three Dog bakery and a friend to help me eat it. I am having
a great time and my new mom and dad think I am the most beautiful and smartest
black poodle ever! I love the beach, there are so many smells and
birds to chase. I like the water but its a little scary when it rushes
at me. Mom and dad had to fence the path to the beach because once
I'm there I don't come back.
Love, Max a.k.a.

Pippo came to live with
us when I was only 8 months old and he was 4 months old. That is the rub!
(We were both babies). Mom was trying to get our attention and teach us
some manners. Two puppies, keep that in mind as you see Mom move to a meltdown.
Now, I'll let Pippo tell his story........
Hi all you humans, I was a mean act
to clean up after as a small boy. I used to "counter cruise" as Mom put
it, and EAT everything I could get my mouth on. The coup de gras was one
morning after Mom went to work. She had the house ready for the housekeeper
to come and get us in order for the week and she left $60 on the kitchen
table for her. WELL, I thought that it might make for good fiber in my
diet. So what could I do? It was there for the taking and so I took it!
It tasted alright and went down with the help of a drink of fresh cool
water. Ok, I'll get on with the story. It gets better, just
wait.
Gran was looking for the money Mom
put on the table and couldn't find it, so she called Mom at work. First
mistake. Mom said that it was on the table and Gran said it wasn't!!
Now this is where Dad comes into the picture that day. Gran called
him in from his project in the garage to look for the money, as I sat digesting
$60. It agreed with me until they figured out that I had possession
of it. A call went out to Vet Linda. She said that the old
remedy for that was "the dreaded peroxide treatment". Does anyone out there
know what that is? I DO! Dad proceeded to pour that stuff down my throat
until I gave back the money. Well, I fooled them, I only gave them back
$30. I decided that I'd "rat-hole" the rest for a rainy day. Actually it's
mulch in the yard now along with the next $40 that I ate a couple of weeks
later! Who's the fool here? If they leave it where I can get my teeth on
it, what do they expect? So we have a "real green" lawn. (hee hee hee)
Am I bad or what?-----I'll let Gussy Boy tell you some of his antics now.
Isn't that a hoot? Pippo was not
on the top of Mom's "Most Popular Poodle" list, as you could imagine. I
on the other hand like medication that my Nona from Italy left on the counter
in the kitchen. Yep, I ate the whole prescription of anti-inflammatory
medication!! It tasted great, until I got to experience the same treatment
that Pippo got. It sure works good. Wow, I tossed my cookies good on that
one. Vet Linda was summoned for that antic. I was in the proverbial "dog
house" for awhile for that one. Vet Linda is used to us getting into stuff,
Mom always gives her a frantic call and she always comes back with, "now
what are they into?" So you can see that we are on a roll, and mom hopes
that it's not for life. We'll see.
I so dearly love to counter surf
and Mom is on patrol most of the time to see that I don't get anything
off of them. We are pretty big and can reach just about anything that we
put our mind to. Once in awhile she slips up and "becomes a blonde" and
forgets to put something away and whammo! it's ours! It's so much
fun.
I have to tell you what Mom is MAKING
me do. Talk! Can you believe it? I made the mistake of talking one
day and she heard me and now she has cultivated a "Mamma" out of me!! Well,
she thinks it sounds like that, so we'll just humor her. So I thought
that using it for my own gain would be the best reventge. This is how it
went. I got into trouble by "surfing" agfain and chewing up her reading
glasses and a couple more things. So I did a self-imposed exile to my crate
(dorr open) to get out of her way as she grumbled about cleaning up the
area of debirs. I chose to remain there the rest of the night until she
"forgot" ( I don't think so). So in the morning I acted like nothing had
happened and began to beg for a treat, when she turned and looked at me
with her hands on her hips and said, "and just what do you have to say
for yourself this morning, young man?" Yep, you guessed it, I said just
as plain as coud be "MAMMA!", with no hesitation. I's so proud! And just
what do you supposed she did? Yah, she hugged me and kissed me!!!!!!!!
ALL IS FORGIVEN! Man, am I good or what? Pippo isn't as good as I
am at this. I wrote the book on "Making Mom and Dad Melt". He just stands
there and looks cute and he gets anything he wants. Bummer. I have to do
all of this "cute poodle" stuff. And he gets threats for my effort. Is
this fair? NO! But, I am top dog in this house and he knows it, so I guess
I can do the work that gets us treats.
We have dogs around the world that
we email on a regular basis and it is so much fun. My first friend was
Jacquey Dog in Perth, Australia. He was a corker. A huge guy dressed in
black! Jacquey Dog was a rescue dog that Anna and Joe took into their
home. And loved him until the day he went to be with BB in Poodle Heaven.
I was so sad, I miss him so much. Anna and Joe are still grieving for him.
I encouraged them to look for another one of "us", but they are not ready.
Ready for what? Love? In their time I guess.
I have another friend in New York,
his name is Blackjack, and he is a looker, I'll tell ya. He gets to wear
a tux for New Years. His Mom and Dad, Edwina and Chuck, give him anything
he wants and he has them where he wants them. He gets to have two houses
to live in. One is at the beach and the other is in the city. Wow, how
fun is that? Edwina takes him for walks a lot on the beach, he loves that
so much.
We had another friend in London,
his name was Rolei. He was a senior citizen and had a long happy loving
life with a great family and then went to be with BB and Jacquey Dog in
Poodle Heaven. I hate it when I lose a friend. I'm looking for more email
friends. We have a limited time on the PC to do this each day. Are we spoiled?
Nah!
Well, we had a great Christmas with
lots of toys and goodies and a fresh hair-do. I had a birthday in December,
I was 2 years old and Pippo is just 4 months behind me. We hope to have
more adventures this New Year and we are wishing you fun times and lots
of treats, and I emphasize "lots" of treats. Isn't that what we live for?
What is your favorite treat? Mine and Pippos is PIG EARS!!!!!!!!!! Yum,
yum,yum!!!
Happy New Year!
