Toy Poodle
By AKC definition, a Toy
Poodle is less than 10 inches tall at the highest point of the shoulders
(withers). Pockets, T-cups Tiny Toys is a label coined by the public, to
describe how small or how large a Toy might be when grown. AKC shuns these
labels, but poodle pet people appreciate the descriptive names.
Pocket Poodles -
under 3 lbs. and usually under 8 inches.
Tiny Toys - 3 to
5 lbs.
Toys over 5 lbs.
Miniature Poodle
Miniatures, by AKC definition
are between 10 and 15 inches at the shoulders. In general, Miniatures usually
weigh about a pound an inch. So they usually weigh between 10 and 15 lbs.
They are tough and hardy little dogs and should be small replicas of a
standard poodle in every way.
Standard Poodle
Standards, by AKC definition
are over 15 inches at the withers. However some standards labeled by the
public as Royals, are sometimes more than 30 inches and top 100 pounds.
While others labeled by the public as Kaniche poodles are very small Standards
from 15 to 20 inches approximately. The Show Standards are usually 22 to
25 inches and weigh 45 to 60 pounds.
